Dr. Matthew W. Brackbill, 27, passed away in Erie, PA, on Thursday, May 6, 2021.
Born in West Reading, he was a son of Dr. Robert Brackbill and Dr. Elizabeth (Whipple) Brackbill.
Matthew was a graduate of Wyomissing High School, ’12, where he received recognition by both the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. He was an active member of the Reading Symphony Youth Orchestra and a talented violinist. As a high school student, he earned a Certificate in Graphic Design at BCTC. While attending Grove City College, ’16, he participated in the symphony orchestra and was president of the Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity. He worked as a medical scribe for a year prior to beginning his graduate work at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. Matthew completed his studies and earned the distinction of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine as part of the Class of 2021.
He was a member of Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church.
Matthew was loving, warm, and affectionate and will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and his community. His life was a gift to us from God.
Surviving are his parents, Robert and Elizabeth, and his brothers and sisters: Dr. Andrew
Brackbill of Allentown; Emily Church (Ephraim) of Hershey; Sarah Robertson (C. Logan) of
Groveland, MA; Rachel Werner (Roland) of Philadelphia; Dr. Robert Brackbill III of Allentown; Ian Joseph Brackbill of Berkeley, CA; and Julia Kate Brackbill of Wyomissing. Matthew is also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
If so inclined, contributions in his memory may be offered to the Hope Rescue Mission.
Services for Matthew will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 11:00 at Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 1201 Yerger Blvd, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Friends and relatives are welcome to meet with the family from 10:00 until the start of services. Interment will be private at Sinking Spring Cemetery.
