Obituary for Mildred A. LaValle

Mildred (Millie) A. LaValle, 99, of Wyomissing, PA passed away peacefully at the on February 5, 2023 after a brief stay at Reading Hospital. Millie was married to the love of her life, Bill LaValle, for forty-five years before he was taken from her way too soon by cancer.

Born in Clifton Park, NY, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Telka (Squires) Stanczak. She was predeceased by her five sisters and one brother.

Millie entered the work force after her youngest child started school. She was employed by Shenendehowa Central School, Clifton Park NY for 20 years as a cafeteria worker. There she took on the beloved title of “lunch lady.” She loved her job and often shared stories about the students, teachers and staff that she served at Okte Elementary.

Millie is survived by two sons, Ronald LaValle (Clara) of Loris, SC and Robert (Judy) LaValle of Edgemore, SC and two daughters, Marie Nuckles (Jim) of Wyomissing, PA and Hope Bamford of Malta, NY, nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren, in addition to many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her biological family, Millie was “Mama” and “Gram” to many others who passed through her life. To know her was to love her and to be loved by her.

Millie had a compassionate, loving and giving spirit toward everyone she met. Her love for others flowed out of her love for her Savior, Jesus Christ and she lived her faith each and every day. Her greatest joy in life was to lift the spirit of any person she met and to put a smile upon their face.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, March 5 at Centenary United Methodist Church, 1527 SC-544, Conway, SC. 29526. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a gift to the Centenary UMC Memorial fund or a charity of your choice.
