Obituary

Orlando Malabez died peacefully at Tower Health Medical Center on January 30, 2021 in Reading, PA at the age of 64.

Orlando is survived by his wife Evelyn Malabez ; children: Michelle Medina, Orlando M Malabez, Abraham D Malabez, Stephanie J Malabez; his daughter in law Sara Cruz, Linmary Malabez and son in laws Juan Pagan and Jose Villanueva. 7 surviving siblings of Newark, New Jersey. He is preceded in death by parents Zoraida Vera and Manuel Malave.

Orlando Malabez was born on December 12th 1956 in Newark, New Jersey to Zoraida Vera and Manuel Malave. Orlando graduated from Barringer High School in 1974. Upon graduation, he served proudly in the United States Navy for 28 years, retiring as a Master Chief. He married the love of his life, Evelyn Malabez on June 24, 1980. Over their 40 years of marriage, the couple welcomed four children, twenty-two grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Orlando loved to reminisce on his fond memories of serving in the United States Navy. He was a devoted Philadelphia Eagle fan and loved spending time with his family. His children remember him as an intelligent, humble, noble, and awesome father who encouraged them to pursue their goals.

Orlando is described as a “jack of all trades.” He was a beautiful, kind hearted individual who loved everyone with no hesitations. To know him was to truly love him. He had an infectious smile that would light up a room. He was passionate about family, as they meant the world to him. Becoming a grandfather and great father was the highlight of his life. He will be deeply missed by all.

A viewing will be held Sunday February 7, 2021, from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and Monday February 8, 2021, from 8:00a.m. 10:30a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue West Reading, PA 19611 with services to follow at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be Monday February 8, 2021 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Orlando’s life. In honor of Orlando Malabez, the family ask all attendees to wear white. The family would also like to thank everyone for their outpouring love and support.
