Otto Franz Schumann Jr., 90, of Reading, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022, in the care of Reading Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Reading to the late Otto Franz Schumann Sr. and Grace (Goetz) Schumann.
He graduated from the New York Military Academy and Pennsylvania State University before enlisting as an officer in the United States Army. After his honorable service was completed, he attended Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania, graduating with his Master of Business degree.
Otto worked with the Reading Trust Company, Kidder Peabody and Company, and Sears Roebuck and Company. He was a former member of the Reading Torch Club, Master Gardeners of Berks County, and Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was a member of Community Bible Church.
Otto was a man much loved by all who knew him.
Left to treasure Otto’s memory is his beloved, Karan Ann Verleur; four children: Patricia Monroe Carr, wife of Roderick Carr, of Dublin, Ireland; Paula Goetz Schumann of Washington, DC; Peter Franz Schumann of Reading; and Jan Andries Verleur of Miami, FL; sister, Ilse Goetz Martz of Indianapolis, IN; and grandchildren, James Ruairi Carr, Sophia Grace Carr, Mya Anies Verleur, Bryce Jan Verleur, and Elle Analies Verleur.
