Paul Joseph Szajna, 89, formerly of Whitfield, West Lawn, PA, died peacefully on Saturday, March 26, 2022. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Judith Ann Szajna, who passed away on December 12, 2007. He is also predeceased by his son-in-law, Gregory Volutza, who passed away on January 24, 2003.
Born in Reading, PA, Paul was the son of the late Josephine Szajna. He attended Reading School District for many years before graduating from Twin Valley High School. He worked over 30 years for the Reading Eagle as a Distribution Manager.
Paul is survived by his two daughters, Suzanne S. Marrella (Sam Sr.) of Sinking Spring, PA and Dianne L. Volutza (late Gregory) of Sinking Spring, PA. In addition to his daughters, he is survived by three grandchildren: Ashleigh Marrella, Sam Marrella Jr., and Erin Volutza.
Paul was a Korean War Veteran and proudly served his country. Paul was a member with his family of St. Ignatius Loyola Church. He was an usher for many years.
Paul enjoyed all sports, especially baseball, basketball, and golf. He was an avid poker player and enjoyed hosting weekly poker games.
Paul especially loved watching his grandchildren participate in their activities and spending time with them.
The family would like to thank the staff and especially the nurses at Phoebe Berks Village Commons, where he last resided, for all the wonderful love and care given to Paul.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Ignatius Loyola Church, Reading.
