Obituary for Raymond R. Stankiewicz

Raymond Stankiewicz, 81, of Mohnton, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Ray was the widower of JoAnn (Knerr) Stankiewicz, who passed away on July 28, 2019.

Born in Reading to the late Stanley and Carmella (Motta) Stankiewicz, Ray retired in 1990 after 30 years at Dana Incorporation.

Ray was an avid outdoorsman who was just more comfortable in nature than he ever was indoors. He enjoyed fishing and boating, especially at Raystown Lake. As a younger man he enjoyed woodworking.

Left to treasure Ray’s memory are his daughters: Annette K. (Michael) Beissel of Exeter; Stacie C. (Cornelius "Neil") George of Bernville; and Stefanie K. Freeman (Eugene Deren Jr.) of Wyomissing. He is also survived by his brother, John (Emily) Stankiewicz of Birdsboro, and his grandchildren, Brian Beissel, Nicole Beissel, Brandon George, Madison Freeman, MacKenzie Freeman, and Geno Deren. Ray is also survived by his furry companion, Rosie, a Pembroke Corgi who gave him great joy.

In addition to his wife, JoAnn, Ray was predeceased by his brother, Stanley “Sonny” Stankiewicz.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ray’s memory may be offered to the Animal Rescue League, 58 Kennel Rd, Birdsboro, PA 19508.

Funeral services for Ray will be held on Monday, June 20, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, with committal to follow at Pleasant View Cemetery. Friends and family are welcome to begin gathering at the funeral home at 12 noon on Monday. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
