Obituary for Robert Joseph Dietz
Robert J. Dietz, 87, of Pottstown, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, December 23, 2022.
Robert was born on April 14, 1935, in Edwardsville, PA to the late Joseph and Catherine (Mokychic) Dietz. He graduated in 1952 from Edwardsville High School and attended Bloomsburg State Teachers College. Robert was a highly decorated Veteran in the United States Marine Corps receiving the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
Robert worked at The State Correctional Institution – Graterford for more than 50 years as a Sergeant and moved up the ranks to Major before retiring. He was a member of Montgomery County Game Commission and Deputy Game Warden for over 30 years and was a Service Volunteer Educational Instructor & Gun Safety for over 49 years.
Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Marlene A. Dietz on June 18, 2018; his sister, Genevieve Dietz Magera.
Robert leaves behind a daughter; Vera, and her husband, Samuel Romania Jr.; two sons; Robert Dietz and James Dietz and his wife, Lori; granddaughter, Marlena, wife of Louis Storti, great grandson, Leo Storti; granddaughter, Rebecca; step granddaughter, Lauren, wife of Jack Widmann, step grandson, Samuel III and step grandson, Dominic; grand daughters, Ashley and Emily; grandsons, Andrew and Alex; great grandson from Ashley and his sister, Delores Dietz Rittinger.
Robert’s funeral service will be held Thursday, December 29 th 2022, 11 a.m. at Warker – Troutman Funeral Home, 726 East High Street, Pottstown, PA 19464. and live streamed for all that cannot attend in person. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Aloysius New Cemetery. A viewing will be held for family and friends on Thursday, December 29 th 2022, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
