Obituary for Robert V. DiMascio

Robert V. DiMascio, 88, of Catasauqua and previously of West Reading, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 24, 2020. He was the husband of Sherri (Ferguson) DiMascio, whom he married in September 2002.

Born May 30, 1932, in West Reading, he was a son of the late Angelo and Helen (Bennethum) DiMascio. Robert was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in West Reading.

After graduating from West Reading High School, he went on to a long career as a union carpenter. He spent the bulk of his 50-plus-year career with L.H. Focht & Sons.

An avid Philadelphia sports fan, Robert loved his Eagles and Phillies. He also loved to travel, and often combined those two passions with trips to Florida to attend baseball training camps and NASCAR races.

Robert wasn't just a handyman at work; he was also one to his friends, always helping them when they needed his craftsmanship and never charging for his skills.

He is survived by his wife, Sherri; and four children: Nicholas A. DiMascio, husband of Sherry, Sinking Spring; Tina DiMascio, Sarasota, Fla.; Linda Lorah, wife of Brent, Wyomissing; Angela Edwards, wife of Marty, Hamburg; along with stepson Dr. Kieran Kehlor, Catasauqua.

He is also survived by three siblings: Betty Hafer of San Diego, Calif.; Margie Kroener of Gwynedd, Pa.; and Michael DiMascio, husband of Marty, of Arizona. There are six grandchildren: Kasey, Nichole, Holly, Charissa, Jonathon and Elizabeth; and a great-grandchild. Also a great-grandchild, Teegan.

Robert was predeceased by a sister, Sally, and two brothers-in-law: Dick Hafer and Bobby Kroener.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sinking Spring.
