Shirley K. Heffner, 91, of West Reading, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022, in the care of Berks Heim. She was the widow of Willie P. Heffner, who passed away in January 2016.
Born in Rockland Township, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Amy (Kniss) Bieber. Shirley married Willie in May 1949.
She worked at various garment mills before taking a position at Western Electric/Lucent, where she later retired after more than 20 years of service.
She was a cook and baker extraordinaire, specializing in Pennsylvania Dutch classics such as her famous chicken pot pie and many tempting desserts. She also loved gardening, watching the Phillies, traveling to Ocean City, Maryland and the Delaware beaches, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Left to treasure Shirley’s memory are her son, Gary (Sharon) Heffner; grandchildren Ryan (Peggy) Heffner and Eryn (Suradi) Winarto; and great grandchildren Colin Heffner, Nicholas Winarto, and Bella Winarto. The last of her siblings, Shirley was predeceased by brothers Lester, Wayne, Guy and Ralph Bieber and sister Dorothy (Bieber) Oakley.
Services for Shirley were held privately at Zion Moselem Church Cemetery. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at Kuhnfuneralhomes.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Bethany Lutheran Church in West Reading.
