Obituary for Shirley D. Overholtzer

Shirley (Dinger) Overholtzer, 87, wife of the late Robert T. Overholtzer, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2022 at Manatawny Manor.

Born in Donaldson, PA on July 13, 1935, she is a daughter of the late Leroy George and Pauline (Morgan) Dinger.

Shirley was a long-time active member of the Coventry Church of the Brethren where she sang in the choir. She later became a member of the St. John and St. James Lutheran Churches in Pottstown. Shirley was a retired cafeteria manager at the Owen J. Roberts school district for many years. She had a passion for word puzzle books, crocheting, sewing and coloring but above all reading. Her favorite novels were “Startrek” books.

Shirley is survived by her son, Gene David Reiner (wife Paula), and daughter Cathy Elaine Reiner. Two grandchildren, Nicholas (wife Alicia) Reiner and Janine Dronson (husband Kevin). Six great grandchildren: Katelyn and Brendan Reiner, Kevin, Jack, Garrett and James Dronson. A nephew, Donald Dinger and sister-in-law, Shirley Dinger.

Along with her parents and late husband Robert, Shirley is predeceased by her first husband Gene Ray Reiner who was a Korean War Veteran. An infant daughter, Judith Overholtzer, a brother, Donald Dinger and a sister Sandra Dinger.

A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Warker~Troutman Funeral Home Inc, Pottstown. A service will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will follow in Limerick Church Burial Ground in Limerick, PA.
