Obituary for Terry Bruce Leatherman
Terry B. Leatherman, 71, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2023 at St. Francis Home, Shillington, surrounded by his loving family after fighting a long battle with cancer.
Born in Abington, PA, Terry was the son of the late Chester and Henrietta Leatherman. He grew up in Willow Grove and was a resident of Flying Hills at the time of his passing. He is survived by his two sons, Eric, of West Lawn, and Brian (Lauren) of Kensington, MD; his daughter, Katelyn (David) of West Lawn; his four grandchildren: Adelyn, Sylvie, Harvey and Paisley; and his special significant other, Jennifer Pleam, of Spring Township.
Terry was a graduate of the class of 1969 from Upper Moreland High School and the class of 1974 from Penn State University. His career began working in management for the BF Goodrich Tire and Rubber Company. He then was employed as a sales representative for nearly 20 years for R.W. Eaken, Inc. of Leesport, followed by 10 years in management at Environmental Recovery Corporation, Lancaster, PA; upon retirement he worked at several local golf courses as a pro shop attendant.
He was a sports enthusiast enjoying golf, baseball and anything sports related. He was a fan of all Philadelphia sports teams and especially enjoyed Penn State Football. His greatest sports passion, however, was running, having run numerous ultra marathons, marathons, trail and road races for over 35 years. For many years he enjoyed coaching youth baseball, softball and soccer.
Terry’s other true passion was volunteering, having spent more than 15 years volunteering in various capacities in the Reading Hospital Emergency Department, Lancaster General Hospital Emergency Department, the St. Francis Home, where he was a Board Member, the Caron Foundation and Helping Harvest Food Bank.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023, 11:30 a.m. at the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611, followed by burial at Forest Hills Memorial Park. A visitation will be held Sunday, March 19, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. & 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, and Monday, 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
