Obituary for Victor "Vito" Notobartolo

Victor "Vito" Notobartolo, 96, passed away peacefully Friday, April 16, 2021, in his Riverview Park residence surrounded by his loving family. Born May 12, 1924 in Reading, he was a son of the late Giovanino and Frances (LaFata) Notobartolo. Vito now joins his beloved Minnie "Domenica" Notobartolo, who passed on November 17, 2018.

Vito was a lifelong member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church.

His adventures began as a Merchant Marine from 1945-1957. His fascination with new places and people continued well into his retirement after 27 years at Carpenter Steel, where he worked multiple jobs but most loved the 10 inch mill. . He loved to share with people stories of his travels, and he remained active in the American Merchant Marine Veterans, Susquehanna Chapter.

He loved gardening and watching everything grow, most especially watching his family grow.

Left to treasure Vito's memory are his children: Giovanni A. Notobartolo, husband of Cindy, Frederick, MD; Frances M. Notobartolo-Schroeder, wife of Donald, Muhlenberg Township; and Mary Jo Notobartolo-Ast, wife of Michael, Spring Township. Also surviving is grandson Niccolo Michael Ast, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Vito was predeceased by his brother Samuel and sisters Minnie Noll and Rosie Roberts.

The Notobartolo family would like to thank their "special angel," Karen Raifsnider, for her loving care of their Dad. "We couldn't have done it without you." They thank Christina McKerns for her compassion. And finally, they would like to thank Grane Hospice for their professionalism and understanding.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Holy Rosary Church, 237 Franklin Street, Reading, PA 19602, followed by burial at Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 and again Thursday morning from 8:30 until 9:30 at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Vito's honor may be made to Holy Rosary R.C. Church at the address above.
