Obituary for Virginia Slody
Virginia Slody – 96 years old wife of the late Joseph Slody passed away Friday, January 13, 2023 at Manatawny Manor, Pottstown. Born in Pottstown, PA she was the daughter of the late Paul and Mamie (Hess) Weller.
Virginia was fiercely independent and lived life to its fullest. She worked as a seamstress at Sunset Mfg. of Pottstown. She was known as the “newspaper lady” at PMMC where she volunteered for many years. Her retirement years were full of activities, she never liked to sit still. She was a fixture at the Tri County Active Adult Center taking line dancing classes, chair exercises and Tai Chi and having lunch with her friends. More recently she loved playing Bingo at Manatawny Manor. She was a faithful member of Zions United Church of Christ, Pottstown.
Surviving is her daughter Sharon Harvey and her husband Lawrence, Boyertown; sons Gary Slody and wife Marsha, Pottstown; Richard Slody, Denver, PA; Bruce Slody and wife Mandy, Frederica, Delaware; Brother-In-Law Stuart Spohn; and nine grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and fourteen nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters Mildred James, and Grace Smyhthe Spohn and brothers Richard Weller and Gerald Weller.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Warker~Troutman Funeral Home Inc, Pottstown. A service will follow at the funeral home at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Limerick Garden of Memories, Limerick.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Virginia’s memory to the Tri County Active Adult Center, 228 Moser Rd. #1, Pottstown, PA or Zions United Church of Christ, 209 Chestnut Street, Pottstown, PA.
