Obituary for Vivian Elaine Phillips

Vivian E. (Meszar) Phillips, 86, of Blandon, passed away October 11, 2022, at Complete Care at Berkshire, in Exeter Township, PA.

Her beloved husband Michael P. Phillips, Jr., died on December 20, 2021.

Born in Princeton, NJ, she was a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Varga) Meszar.

She was a graduate of New Brunswick High School, New Brunswick, NJ.

Vivian was a stay-at-home mother, raising her 3 children before re-entering the workforce in 1978. She was employed as the administrative coordinator for the office of the associate dean for student affairs at the New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine (Now Rutgers Medical School). Her last position was administrative coordinator for the executive director of planning and administration at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (now Rutgers Medical School) until her retirement in 1998.

Family and faith were most important to Vivian; she was a warm, caring, selfless person, who loved spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, her friendly personality, caring nature will be sorely missed. She was an avid bowler and at one time held the state amateur 3 game series record scratch score of 668 in the state Georgia in the late 1950’s. She enjoyed traveling with her family throughout the USA and enjoyed traveling to Antigua in her later years with her beloved husband, Michael and daughter, Lara. Supporting her children’s activities in their school age years was a joy. She was active in her church at Middlesex Presbyterian Church in Middlesex, NJ for over 30 years. Retirement took Vivian and Michael to New Bern, NC for 12 years before moving back to Pennsylvania.

She is survived by three children: Glen M., husband of Susan Phillips, Exeter Township, Lara E. Philips, Franklin Park, NJ, and Gene D., husband of Sundee Phillips, Washington; and five grandchildren: Samuel Phillips, Lindee Lorig married to Kraymer Lorig, Kody Triplett, Brayden Phillips, married to Samantha Phillips, and Megan, wife of J.T. Hurt. Five great-grandchildren also survive her, Daxton Lorig, Roman Lorig, Colin Phillips, Everest Phillips, and Bexlie Hurt.

Vivian was predeceased by Julia Nemeth and Elizabeth Biscotto.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Park Road Presbyterian Church, 1045 N. Park Road, Wyomissing, PA. Burial will be private. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
