Obituary for Wanda L. Matuszak
Wanda Lynne (Shook) Matuszak, 61, of Ruscombmanor Twp. passed away on January 16, 2023.
She was the loving wife of Joseph M. Matuszak. They were married on February 15, 1985 and enjoyed over 37 years of marriage.
Born in Wyalusing, PA she was a daughter of the late Michael and Betty (Walters) Milarta.
A graduate of Wyalusing High School she continued her education at Robert Packer Hospital School of Nursing and earned her bachelor degree in Nursing from Kutztown University.
She was a registered nurse for 40 years for the Reading Hospital. In May of 2019, Wanda was awarded the Department of Medicine Nursing Collaboration Award for Nursing Excellence from Reading Hospital, Tower Health.
Her instinct to take care of others went well beyond her work duties to make sure the individual needs of each patient, her family members, and her friends were met. She loved to gather family together especially during the holidays. Wanda remained very close to her work colleagues of 40 years spending time with her "beach girls" on various outings and excursions. She enjoyed exercise, especially walking and loved to read and plant flowers.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughter, Kayla Jo Matuszak; her sisters, Donna Shook and Lindsey (Milarta) Clark and her husband Ken; her niece, Carys Clark and her nephew, Gavin Clark.
She was predeceased by one sister, Darlene (Shook) Grebe.
A viewing will be held Sunday, January 22, 2023, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated privately for immediate family only.
