Obituary for William H. Bentz
William H. Bentz, 81, formerly of West Reading, Sacred Heart Villa and lately of Country Meadows of Wyomissing, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022. Born in West Reading to the late Nicholas and Mary Bentz, William was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.
Bill retired from the grounds and maintenance crew at the Reading hospital in 2004 after 37 years of dedicated service. Many long term current and former employees of the hospital would recognize Bill for his enduring presence around the grounds of the facility.
One of ten children, Bill is survived by his siblings: Nicholas Jr, husband of Mary Alice, of Shillington; Theresa, widow of John Caton, of Tewksbury, MA; and Richard, husband of Barbara, of Palmyra. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his siblings Joseph, Robert, James, John, Sr. Mary Bentz (IHM), and Thomas.
Bill was a man of great faith and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The family would like to acknowledge their appreciation to the staff at Sacred Heart Villa and Country Meadows for making his final years one of compassionate care and comfort.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 740 Cherry St, West Reading, PA 19611, with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Rd, Reading, PA 19605. A viewing will be held at the Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. 739 Penn Ave, West Reading on Tuesday , March 29, 2022 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., with the Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. and from 9:00 until 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
