Obituary for William H. Gallagher

William H. Gallagher, 87 , passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Keystone Villa. He was the loving husband of Janet M. (Pontious) Gallagher, with whom he shared nearly 67 years.

Born in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Neil J. and Kathryn (Howard) Gallagher. As a boy, William was the catcher for the 1947 Maynard Little League team, the winners of the very first Little League World Series.

A graduate of St. Joseph's High School (Class of 1953), William went on to earn a Bachelors degree from Lycoming College where he also played basketball and baseball. He then embarked on a long career in retail management. He was a VP of merchandising for home goods at Boscov's where he worked for nearly three decades before his retirement in 2004.

William was an avid sports fan. A former season ticket holder for Penn State football and a lifelong Steelers fan.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janet; son, Stephen J. Gallagher (Linda) of Spring Township; daughter, Karen Richards (Andrew) of Mohnton; sister, Rosemary Sullivan of Montoursville; and grandchildren: Lindsey Richards, William Richards (Tanya), Colin Gallagher (Molly Blatt), and Bailey Gallagher.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. John Baptist de la Salle RC Church, 42 Kerrick Rd, Shillington, PA 19607. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
