Obituary for William H. Hess

William H. Hess, 91, passed away July 10, 2023, in his Wyomissing residence.

He was the beloved husband of Fannie (Concordia) Hess, with whom he celebrated 52 years of marriage before her passing in 2012.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Clarence and Irene (Gross) Hess.

William was a graduate of Reading High School.

He was a United States Army Veteran.

William was employed by Lucent Technology, formerly AT&T and Western Electric as a laborer for over four decades, before retiring in 1994.

He was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading. He was also a lifetime member of Victor Emmanuel II and East Ends.

William was a big fan of the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing football, basketball, baseball, and softball and coached many Berks County softball, baseball, and basketball teams for over 40 years. He lives for Berks Catholic sports. You could find him showing his support to the school's sports teams, especially the teams his grandchildren played on pretty much every day of the week. Most importantly, he loved his family, especially when vacationing at the Jersey Shore. He treasured his children, his grandchildren, and every member of his family, for whom he sacrificed for to have a better life. He always greeted you with a smile and reminded everyone in his life to always “think positive.” He was a humble man who lived an extraordinary life.

He is survived by his two children, William H., husband of Robin Hess, Lower Alsace Twp., Donna M. Hess, Exeter Twp. He is also survived by his sister, Myrtle Hess, Reading, in-laws, Salvatore and Ann Concordia, the pride and joy of his life, his grandchildren, Mia, William, and Celia Hess, and all of his nieces and nephews.

William was predeceased by his seven siblings, Earl, Rodney, Ralph, Clarence, Louise, Betty and Marie.
