Obituary for William Chester Richardson

William Chester Richardson, 75, formerly of Reading and of Bronx, NY, passed away on March 6, 2023, at Bronx Care Hospital, Bronx New York.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Mitchell and Cornelia (Cole) Richardson.

He was a graduate of Reading High School and City College of New York with his Bachelor’s of Psychology and Arts Degree. A veteran of the US Army, he served during the Vietnam War.

William was employed in the Unemployment Office for the State of New York. He then worked for The Bronx Museum of Arts, where he retired in 2013.

William enjoyed world traveling, listening to Jazz, admiring art exhibits, and going to the Yankee Games. He would often talk about how he could hear the announcer from his window. He always greeted you with a smile and kind words.

He is survived by his two sisters, Jessica C. (Danny-deceased) Gilmore and Deborah Richardson; nephews, Danny Jr. (wife Tonya) Gilmore and Franklin Sudler Jr.; and nieces, Crystal Gilmore (husband Thomas) Harris and Collette Gilmore, all of Reading, Pa. He is also survived by great-nieces and great nephews: Chantelle Harris, Avery (wife Debbie) Price, Franklin Sudler III (deceased), Amari Gilmore, Darius Sudler, De’avonna Sudler, Isaiah Gilmore, and Isaiah Sudler; and great-great nieces, Nyla Harris and Gabriella Brockington.

Services will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023, at 12 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading with burial to follow at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
