David S.  Granger
David Stanley Granger, 97, of Wyomissing, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018, in Country Meadows.

He was born November 23, 1920, in Reading. David attended St. Joseph's Catholic School, Northeast Jr. High, then Reading High, with a major interest in printing. He played on the tennis team for two years. David carried papers for the Reading Times and Reading Eagle. He worked in the print shop and shipping department with the Narrow Fabric Co., Wyomissing, in 1939.

David was drafted into the Army on June 5, 1942. He graduated and commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps on August 4, 1944. David attended flight instructors school in Randolph Field, San Antonio, Texas. Followed were tours of duty, as an instructor in CA., WA, England, and S.D. He was discharged from active duty on Nov. 5, 1945, at Fort Dix, NJ.

He worked at the Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., Pottstown, Pa., from 1946-1948, then real estate, opening a brokerage in Reading.

David was called back into the Air Force in April, 1951, assigned to Greenville AFB, SC. He then transferred to Rhein Main AFB, Frankfort, Germany, in Sept., 1951. His family lived there until returning to the USA in April, 1953. He remained in the Reserves until retirement in 1980, with the rank of Major.
David lived in Reiffton, opening a real estate and insurance business in Reading. He sold his house and business in 1958, and moved to Florida, selling burglar alarms until starting a career with FAA at Miami ATC center. He was promoted to Team Supervisor in 1972 and served in that capacity, and as acting Assistant Chief, until Dec., 1979. David retired from the FAA and went into real estate and tax preparing. He moved back to Pa. in 1987, to Shillington until buying a townhome in Flying Hills.

He was a member of the Young Republican Club, Reading Country Club, Berks County Tennis Club, and 8th Air Force Historical Society. Also, was a volunteer at the annual Scenic River Days.

Dave was married and predeceased by Gertrude (Trudy) Norma Zeswitz who was born in 1923 and died on March 13, 1996, and Dorothy Beaucar, born in 1921 and died on January 12, 1998.

He was also predeceased by Father, Stanley and brother, Stan.

Survivors are sons, David and Dennis and their wives Lori and Linda; and David's daughters, Amanda and Kelsey.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 5, 2018, in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, 19611. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in David's memory to a charity of your choice.
