Obituary for Michael J. O'Connor

Michael J. O'Connor
Michael Jeremiah O'Connor, 62, of Wyomissing, PA died on February 22, 2017, in the Reading Hospital, with family at his side. Frequent visits by dear friends lifted his spirits during his brief illness.

Born December 27, 1954, in Pottsville, Schuylkill County and raised in nearby Heckscherville, he was the eldest son of the late Vincent J. and Mary R. (Horan) O'Connor.

Mike was a former member of St. Kieran's Parish in Heckscherville and was a member of one of the final graduating classes from the parish elementary school before it closed. He graduated from Nativity BVM High School in 1972 and then earned a BS degree in Accounting from Penn State University in 1976.

O'Connor moved to Berks County in 1982, spending most of his professional career with UGI Utilities, Reading, PA, where over 31 years, he held a variety of management positions. In 2015, he joined Penske Logistics, Green Hills, PA with his last day worked February 7, 2017.

Mike is survived by his brother, Vincent, husband of Marla (Bobinas) O'Connor of Schnecksville, PA, and sisters Mary Ann O'Connor of Minersville, PA, and Bridget, wife of John Zedonek of Mar Lin, PA.

Other surviving family members are nephews: John Vincent, husband of Emerald Zedonek, Aaron, husband of Laura O'Connor, and Jordan Michael Zedonek, niece, Marielle O'Connor, and great niece, Azalea Vincent Zedonek.

Throughout his life, Mike was grateful to share holidays and special occasions with the Sborz, Darosh, Collins, Weachock, Bobinas, Lutkus, Stoppie, and Morris families. He will be missed dearly by his many true and loyal friends, partly because it was most likely Mike's turn to buy the next round of beers.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite animal rescue charity in Mike's name. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
