Obituary for Dylan Dakota Young

Dylan Dakota Young
Sergeant Dylan Dakota Young, of West Lawn, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018, in his barracks in Jacksonville, North Carolina at the age of 22.

Dylan is survived by his loving parents; his father, Jerry Young and mother and step-father, Lee Ann (Wright) Covell and Paul Covell.

Dylan was born in Allentown, PA, on June 19, 1995, and was raised in West Lawn where he attended schools of the Wilson School District from which he graduated in 2013.

At Wilson High School, he climbed the ranks of the JROTC and set his eye on the Marine Corps following graduation. In August, 2013, he set off for Marine basic training at Paris Island, South Carolina. Following basic training he became an air-frame mechanic on the CH-53 Helicopter and began a successful career in the service for the United States Marine Corps. Dylan was a dedicated service member, a humble leader, and a selfless comrade.

No one could make a room full of people laugh quite like Dylan. He could never take a picture without making a funny face. Dylan was an avid NASCAR and auto racing fan and an even greater Philadelphia sports fan. Fly, Dylan, Fly.

He is fondly remembered by his five siblings, Christine, Lindsey, Anthony, Sawyer, and Zachary, his paternal grandparents, Bruce Young and Anne Waldron, maternal grandparents, Kevin and Donna (DeFrank) Wright, and his many, many uncles, aunts, and cousins. His many brothers and sisters of the Marine Corps remember him and his goofy attitude and fearless leadership, especially those of the HMH 366 Hammerheads.

He was predeceased by, and has now been reunited in Heaven with, his loving cousin Brendan Lackman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at 10 a.m. at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 2600 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608, with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, January 29, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading.
