Obituary for Betty L. Ziegler

Betty L. Ziegler
Betty L. Ziegler, 88, passed away Sunday, May 6, 2018, in Phoebe Berks Village.

She was the wife of Charles H. Ziegler, Jr., who died March, 2011.

Born in Shillington, she was the daughter of the late Charles F. and Mary C. (Dunkelberger) Keffer.

Betty was a 1947 graduate of Shillington High Shcool and also attended Reading Hospital School of Nursing where she earned her R.N. license.

She was employed as a registered nurse at Hamburg Sanitarium, then the Reading Hospital, and finally at the Women's Clinic for 28 years, retiring in 1994.

Betty raised her family in West Reading and was involved in many community activities there. Once her children were grown and had families of their own, she tirelessly hosted family gatherings for every holiday.

She was a person of deep faith and was an active church member her entire life, for many years at St. James U.C.C. in West Reading and, after she moved to Phoebe Berks, at St. John's Reformed Church in Sinking Spring. She also played the piano and organ and sang in the church choir.

Betty loved to read, play cards, do crossword puzzles, and travel. She cheerfully attended the many activities of her grandchildren and her home was always open to family and friends.

She is survived by three children: Cheryl L. Ziegler-Greer, wife of John Greer, Cayuga, NY; Wendie L. Ziegler, wife of Paul Wolf, Mt. Penn; and Karen L. Allison, wife of Kevin, Mechanicsburg. Seven grandchildren: Michael, Heather, Mackenzie, Marshall, Rachel, Emmy, and Colleen; and one great grandchild, Colton also survive her.

In addition to her husband, Betty was predeceased by her sister, Shirley A. Coleman.

A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, May 20, 2018 at 2 p.m., at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the funeral home.
