Obituary for Thomas L. Coleman

Thomas L.  Coleman
Thomas L. Coleman, 88, passed away July 23, 2018, in his West Reading residence.

He was the loving husband of Justine M. (Spangler) Coleman. They married on October 9, 1954.

Born in Pawtucket, RI, he was a son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Gorman) Coleman.

He was a 1949 graduate of Attleboro High School, Attleboro, MA.

Thomas was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as Corporal during the Korean Conflict.

He was employed by L.G. Balfour, Attleboro, MA, later working for Textile Machine Works as a tool and dye maker, Dana Corporation as a machinist for 27 years and the Wyomissing Area School District as a bus driver before retiring in 1992.

Thomas was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

He enjoyed running, swimming, singing, storytelling and playing his numbers.

Thomas loved his family and was selflessly devoted to them. He adored his family especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He never missed a sporting event or an opportunity to spend time with them.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by six children: Kevin P. (Nancy) Coleman, S. Huntington, NY, Sean P. (JoAnn) Coleman, Mohnton, Maureen E. (Chris) Paolini, West Reading, Bridget A. Coleman, West Reading, Kathleen M. (David) Materia, Sinking Spring and Timothy P. (Elise) Coleman, Bernville; and four siblings: Patricia, John, Suzanne and Mary Ann. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Christopher, Frankie M., Andrew, Caitlin (Matthew), Larry, Vinny, Frankie C., Ryan, Thomas, Shane, Justine, Brenden, Daniel and Jenna; one great-granddaughter, Lydia; and his dear cousin, Patricia Kollar. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Clarence Spangler.

He was predeceased by his sister, Theresa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading.
