Obituary for Msgr. Felix A. Losito

The Reverend Monsignor Felix A. Losito, Pastor of Holy Rosary Church, Reading, died on Thursday, 3 November 2011, at the age of 80, in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
A native of Wickatunk, New Jersey, Monsignor Losito was the son of the late Vincent and Jennie (La Salle) Losito. He is survived by a brother, Charles and his wife, Edith, of Toughkenamon, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by brothers Nicholas, Anthony, Michael and Samuel. Monsignor Losito attended Kennett Grammar School and Kennett Public High School in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. He studied for the Priesthood at Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary, Overbrook, Pennsylvania. He was ordained to the Priesthood on 15 May 1958 by Archbishop John F. O’Hara, C.S.C., at the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia.
Monsignor Losito’s first Priestly assignment was Parochial Vicar, Our Lady of Pompeii Church, Bethlehem, followed by Parochial Vicar, Holy Family Church, New Philadelphia. Monsignor Losito’s first Pastoral assignment was at Immaculate Conception Church, Kelayres; Administrator and then Pastor, Holy Rosary Church, Reading, where he served for over forty-three years.
During the course of his Priestly Ministry, Monsignor Losito held the following Auxiliary Diocesan Assignments: Regional Director, CYO Carbon and East Schuylkill Counties; Regional Director, Council of Catholic Nurses, East Schuylkill County; Regional Director, Family Life Bureau, Berks County; Regional Director, Holy Name Societies, Berks County; Pro-Synodal Examiner; Member, Holy Name High School Budget Board, Reading; Member, Reading Central Catholic High School Advisory Board; Co-Chaplain, Saint Thomas More Society of Berks County; Member, Social Action Bureau Advisory Board, and Member, Holy Name High School Advisory Board.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in Holy Rosary R.C. Church, 237 Franklin St., Reading, PA 19601. A viewing will be Sunday 5 to 9 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. and a viewing on Monday 9 to 11 a.m. in Holy Rosary R.C. Church. Burial will be private in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Kennett Square. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Berks Catholic High School, 955 E.
