Obituary for Greta Leinbach Smith
Greta Leinbach Smith, 86, formerly of Wyomissing, died July 5, 2016, in Mifflin Center.
Born in West Reading, she was a daughter of the late Harold M. and Dorothy Oberlaender Leinbach. Greta was a graduate of Abbot Academy, Andover, MA; Briar Cliff Jr. College, Briar Cliff, NY and earned her bachelor of art degree from Carleton Colllege, Northfield, MN.
She held various administrative office positions at a number of local businesses.
Greta served on the Berks County Mental Health Association Board of Directors and was a long-time member of the Jr. League of Reading; she also volunteered at Advances of Berks County, Greater Berks Food Bank, and Alvernia University.
She is survived by four children, Sandra S. Bodenhamer, Virginia Beach, VA,; Robin S., wife of Bob Goodloe, Tulsa, OK; Douglas F., husband of Susan Smith, Spring Twp; and Steven W., husband of Stephanie Smith, Wyomissing. She had eight grandchildren, Scott, Kyle, Kelleye, Kara, Derek, Taylor, Sean, and Colin; and two great-grandchildren, McKenna and Hunter.
Greta was predeceased by four siblings, Jean Ziemer, and Harold, Richard, and Gustav Leinbach.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, with a visitation from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
