Brenda J.  Koehler
Brenda Koehler, 66, of Shillington, Pa. passed away on July 16, 2018.

Born in Reading, Pa., she was the daughter of Henry Koehler and the late Helen (Sattler) Koehler.

She graduated as salutatorian from Manheim Central High School in 1969. Brenda attended Kutztown University later in life where she earned a Bachelor's of Arts in Communication.

She worked as a server at The Chat-a-While Inn in Mt. Penn for many years before she joined the United States Postal Service as a walking mail carrier in Mohnton. For the past 13 years, Brenda was employed by The Greater Reading Mental Health Alliance. She most recently held the position of Director of the CFST program, where she worked to ensure that people with mental health issues received the care and attention that they are entitled to.

Brenda was a talented writer, artist, seamstress, and baker. She had an appreciation for the arts and surrounded herself in its beauty by decorating her home and herself with color, warmth, and subtle elegance. She enjoyed vacationing at the beach, going to the movies, listening to classical music, taking bubble baths, indulging in dark chocolate and anything French. She was politically active, and voted in every election, and also attended marches in Washington, D.C., where she rallied for peace, the environment, animal rights, and social/economic justice.

Brenda is survived by her two children: Cedric Koehler, husband of Victoria Koehler; and Angela Slifer, wife of Dylan Slifer. She is also survived by her two grandsons: Quin Slifer and Remi Slifer, and five siblings: Craig Koehler; Nancy Yeager, wife of Conrad Yeager; David Koehler, husband of Joanne Koehler; Lisa Frank; Karen Achenbach, wife of Michael Achenbach; as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Christine Koehler.

A celebration of Brenda’s life will be held on July 28, 2018 at 1:00pm. Directions are as follows: Turn at 750 Fritztown Rd. onto Willow Rd. and follow signs that will be posted.
