Obituary

Chester Daniel "Danny" Hartz, passed away in the Reading Hospital Tuesday, February 9th, 2021.

Born in Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia he was the son of the late Irvin D. Hartz and Delores J. (Mull) Hartz.

Danny was a Twin Valley graduate. After high school he enlisted in the Army, where he excelled in many areas.

Danny worked as a Pressman in Visual Arts for 44 years, twenty seven of those years he was a loyal and dedicated employee to Boscov's.

Danny was a hard worker with a heart of gold, who knew how to have fun. He loved to travel, and had a heart big enough to share with his daughter’s dogs and his birds. More than anything, Danny loved his daughter and grandson.

Danny is survived by his loving daughter Lachen M. Hartz of Reading and his grandson Ryder Daniel Hartz.

Danny and I went to school together and were good friends and in a lot of classes together. I remember he was a huge Philadelphia Flyers fan and would always wear Flyers jerseys to school. I rarely ever see anyone from our graduating class at Twin Valley so it was fortunate that Danny and I at least bumped into one another on calls to his house for burglar alarms and we spoke on the phone a time or two as well. God took you too soon my friend but you're in a much better place!

I first met Danny a little over 7 years ago when I started working with him in the Boscov's Print Shop. I soon found out what a character he could be, always cracking jokes and telling funny stories - now when he got upset or angry about something it was best to just stay out of his way lol - but that's ok, he was passionate about EVERYTHING he did! But he was almost always in a good mood really and ready to talk or to listen! He was a very hard worker and always ready to help you with your work if you needed it! He often showed me tricks of the trade if he saw that I was having a hard time figuring something out. Since he worked at Boscov's for 27 years there wasn't a lot he didn't know how to do and he was always willing to share his knowledge with you. He was the ultimate Flyers fan, a true diehard and he could tell you anything and everything you ever wanted to know about hockey (and even what you didn't want to know lol) ... if you knew him you get the joke. But that's ok, he truly just loved to talk, and tell you about past experiences. His daughter Lachen and his grandson Ryder were EVERYTHING to him - his world! He was a dedicated father and and grandfather who was always ready to drop what he was doing and run out and help if something happened with either of them, his love for them both was undeniable. Danny sadly you left us all way too soon because you had so much love to give and so much more fun to have and so many more stories to tell ... and to become part of! You were a good friend and coworker and you will be truly missed, not just by myself but I think I can safely say by just about everyone who knew you. I am truly sorry that I cannot attend this evenings service for you honoring your life [due to strong health concerns for my wife who has little to no immune system from her own medications] but know that I am here for you and your family in spirit and you all are (and have been) in my thoughts and prayers from the moment I heard the sad news. Rest in peace Danny - Keep smiling, laughing and telling your stories - heaven is in for some extra laughter - hopefully one day in the distant future we will meet again my friend.

Danny did a lot of work for me at the Boscov Print shop and was always friendly and helpful. He was a big hockey fan and
he would occasionally purchase a few Flyers tickets from me through the years. We always made time to talk about hockey.
I last saw him at Lowes a couple of years ago and, sure enough, he was talking about hockey. I always enjoyed our conversations.
My condolences to Lachen and family.

Our deepest sympathy Lachen. Brynn and I met you and Danny many years ago. Danny was a sweet and loving man. You were definitely loved by him. He talked about you all the time, and the love in his eyes proved it. We are so sorry for your loss. Your dad will be forever in your heart.

Love,
Robin & Brynn
