Obituary for Gary W. Plourde Sr.

Gary W.  Plourde Sr.
Gary W. Plourde Sr., 68, of Sinking Spring, passed away May 13, 2018, in the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center.

He was the beloved husband of Judith K. (Mastroni) Plourde, with whom he celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Born in Claremont, NH, he was the son of Suzanne (St. Pierre) Plourde, Meriden, CT and the late Clarence Plourde, of Claremont, NH.

Gary was a 1990 graduate of Albright College, where he received his B.A. in English Literature.

He was a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. During his service to our country he received the Purple Heart , Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and Rifle Expert Badge.

Gary was an avid reader and chess player. He enjoyed fishing and loved reading and writing poetry. He also was the author of "Visions In-Depth".

In addition his wife he is survived by his five children, Gary W. Plourde II, PA; Joel A. Plourde, Sinking Spring; Erika G. Plourde, Leesport; Jessica A. (Plourde), wife of James Mullins, Pittsburgh, PA; and Renee N. (Plourde), wife of David Whipple, New Hampshire. He is also survived by his three siblings, Peter Plourde, West Lawn; Suzan Plourde, Wallingford, CT; Corey J. Plourde, of Woodstock, CT., formerly of Claremont, NH; and three grandchildren, Moriah E. Webb, Joshua E. Draper, Antonya - Frances Mullins, and his beloved canine companions Cash and Oscar.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at 2:30 p.m. in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, RR #2, Box 484, Indiantown Gap Rd., Annville, PA 17003. A viewing will be held Wednesday, May 23, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
