Loretta H.  McCarthy
Loretta H. (Rogers) McCarthy, 87, Sinking Spring, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2018, in Phoebe Berks Retirement Community, Wernersville.

She married the love of her life, Richard V. McCarthy, on September 10, 1955, in St. Mary Magdalene Church by Monsignor Vincent Burky.

Born in Homestead, PA, on April 26, 1931, Loretta was the daughter of the late John P. and Anna (Petrulevich) Rogers.

She was a graduate of Munhall High School, West Penn School of Nursing, and achieved her B.A. in Science and Nursing Education from the University of Pittsburgh. Loretta worked as a school nurse for Munhall High School for 25 years and went on to become head of the nursing department at Steel Valley High School.

She was a former member of St. Philomena Church in Squirrel Hill, PA, for 34 years, where she was a Eucharistic Minister and officer of the Women's Guild. Loretta moved to Murrysville, PA for 16 years and became a member of Mother of Sorrow Church. Most recently, she lived in Sinking Spring, and was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.

Loretta was an avid golfer and bowler, and enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with all of her family and friends. She was loved and respected by all who were touched by her kindness. She had an infectious laugh and could light up any room she walked into. She made friends wherever she went. Loretta was the happiest when she was with her family; she especially enjoyed their Sunday dinners together and their summer vacations. Her family meant the world to her. Loretta was a loyal wife, loving mother, caring grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be truly missed by all who were blessed to know her.

In addition to her husband, Loretta is survived by her children: Suzy Olivo (Ish), Sacramento, CA; Janet Gallagher (Jack), Sinking Spring; Michael McCarthy (Joyce), Clinton; and Tricia Krut (Mike), Sinking Spring; grandchildren: Christine Goldman (Hank), Pittsburgh; Caitlyn Townes (Paul), Richboro; Danny Gallagher, Sinking Spring; Laura McCarthy, Pittsburgh; Morgan McCarthy, Somerdale, NJ; Jason Krut, Pittsburgh; Emily Krut, Pittsburgh; and Rachel Krut, Sinking Spring; great grandchildren: Hudson, Maisy, Everly, and Adaline Townes, all of Richboro; and sister, Delrita Boyd, Loveland, CO.

She was predeceased by sister, Clarisse Stefko.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 25, 2018, at 12 Noon at St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2700 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. - 12 Noon in the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
