Luther "Luke" A. Hoffman
Luther "Luke" A. Hoffman, 73, of Lower Heidelberg Twp., passed away May 4, 2018, at the Reading Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the loving husband of Phyllis B. (Bukowski) Hoffman; they were married May 17, 1969.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Luther D. and Catherine (Brice) Hoffman.

Luke was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving from 1963 to 1967. In the service he was an air weather serviceman which resulted in a love of meteorology.

He was a graduate of Reading High School in 1963, and attended the University of Illinois at Champagne Urbana, and the University of South Carolina, Columbia SC.

Luke was a mechanical engineer for Textile Machine Works, the Vice President of Manufacturing for Sharpoint, served as General Manager at Alcon Surgical, and started Unique Technologies in 1995 in Mohnton. In his retirement he was a consultant for quality management.

Passionate about his field, Luke held numerous patents in opthamology. He served on the board of directors for the Manufacturing Association of Berks County, and was associated with RACC and Ben Franklin Technology Partners at Lehigh University.

He loved Aruba, the Eagles (especially the Super Bowl title this year), NASCAR and watching his grandchildren play for their various sports teams.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jennifer M. Clark, Shillington, and Christopher B. (Jennifer Adamchuk), Marlboro, MA. He was one of three children, Dorothy Lewis (deceased) and Richard (Mary Jane), Muhlenberg Twp. Three grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Ashlyn, and McKinley also survive him.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2018, from 12 to 1:30 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 2810 St. Albans Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608.
