Phil and I were flying buddies for many years. We were both Navy pilots and flew together in the P-2 aircraft in VP-64 at Willow Grove Naval Air Station. We also flew light planes out of the Reading Airport.
Since we both lived in the Reading area, we spent a lot of time together just having fun. We joined the Reading Civic Opera Society together, and performed in the chorus of a production of “No, No Nannette”. We had a blast doing it.
Phil had numerous parties at “Ruth’s Roost”, a converted chicken house at his home in Jacksonwald. My wife and I were there on July 4, 1976, along with other friends to celebrate the bicentennial.
Phil was a great guy who will be missed by all who knew him. Carol and I extend our sincere condolences to the family.

Flew with Phil for a number of years as CAC 7 crew. Couldn’t ask for a more even tempered PPC who looked after his crew and treated everyone equally well. My sincere condolences.

Phil and I flew together for many years in the U.S. Navy as members of Patrol Squadron 64. We were both Penn State graduates, he finishing less than a year before me. We were good friends and shared many adventures together. I am very saddened by his passing and wish to offer my condolences to his family. Mark Lavin, Lemoyne, PA
