Obituary for Robert Barry Lechleitner

Robert Barry Lechleitner, 81, of Spring Township, died from complications of Parkinson's Disease March 15, 2014 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
He was the husband of Carol Joan (Muschko) Lechleitner, whom he married January 4, 1958.
Born in West Reading, PA on May 19, 1932, he was a son of the late Walter David Lechleitner and Miriam Lillian (Trout) Lechleitner.
He was a 1950 graduate of West Reading High School and a graduate of the Naval School of Music.
Robert was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was an avid musician; playing with numerous bands, like the Cadet Band, Wally Spots, Jack Heath, Shriners Band and the Army Band where he was a drum major. Robert would play whatever was necessary while with these bands, he could play the clarinet, flute, alto, tenor and baritone saxophone.
Robert was also a former orchestra director for St. Mark's United Church of Christ, Reading; taught the saxophone at Orths, West Reading; was a Mason of the Chandler Lodge #227 and was a member of the Reading Railroader Masters Swim Program for the YMCA.
He was a life member of the Musicians Union #135.
Robert and his wife, Carol, co-owned Bertolette Candies, Reading from 1967 to 1999.
He is also survived by his children: Tracy S. (Lechleitner) Stroebele of Womelsdorf; Leanne Lechleitner Campbell, wife of William L. Campbell Jr., of Exeter Township and Christopher R. Lechleitner, husband of Jennifer L. (Henning) Lechleitner of Lower Heidelberg Township.
Other survivors include a sister, Marjorie A. (Lechleitner), wife of Leonard C. Miller of Spring Township.
There are also five grandchildren: Jason Stroebele, Brooke Stroebele, Abigail Campbell, Trentin Lechleitner and Avonlea Lechleitner and two great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 2:00 pm in St. Peter's United Church of Christ, 2901 Curtis Road, (Whitfield), Reading, PA 19609.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Parkinsons Support Group of Berks County, 204 Columbia Avenue, Reading, PA 19605.
