Ronald G. Browne, 83, died April 16, 2018, in his Temple residence.

His wife, Duraine M. (Sonsini) Browne, died on December 11, 2003. Ronald married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life on September 29, 1956.

He was a graduate of Reading High School in 1952; Kutztown State Teacher’s College in 1961 and Temple University.

He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Ronald was employed by Reading Southern Jr. High School as a science and biology teacher for 34 years, retiring in 1995. During his teaching career, Ronald was proud to educate nearly 5, 000 students in the Reading School District where he changed the lives of many students. One of Ronald’s proudest achievements was the certificate of Special Recognition for Meritorious Achievement on January 12, 1989, from Congressman Gus Yatron.

He was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.

Ronald loved the City of Reading and Berks County where he knew it’s history and appreciated all it had to offer.

He was a sports enthusiast and an avid Eagles, Phillies, 76ers and Reading High School basketball fan.

Ronald is survived by two sons, Michael L. Browne, N. Myrtle Beach, SC and Kevin L., husband of Andrea Browne, Red Lion, PA. Two siblings, William “Bud”, husband of Carrie Brown, Reading and Patricia, wife of Joseph Shore, FL; numerous nieces and nephews; and his lady friend, Ginger McBride, also survive him.

He was predeceased by his sister, Larue (Jay) Strawder.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 24, 2018, at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of St. George at Gethsemane Cemetery with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Ave., Reading, PA 19605. Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., Temple is in charge of arrangements.
