Obituary for Clifford B. LePage Jr.

Clifford B. LePage Jr.
Prominent Reading Attorney Clifford B. LePage, Jr., 74, of Wyomissing, died peacefully Friday, June 8 at Reading Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born May 17, 1944 in Reading, Cliff was the only son of the late Minnie (Himmelreich) and Clifford B. LePage, Sr. He was the devoted husband of Eileen (McCullough) LePage, and they truly celebrated 48 years of marriage together.

Cliff was a 1962 graduate of Reading High School, and earned his BA in Classics from Brown University where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to study law at the University of Pennsylvania, earning his J.D. in 1969. He was a longtime partner at Austin, Boland, Connor and Giorgi, Reading, where he was well-respected, and highly-recommended by his peers, particularly for his work in Workers Compensation cases.

A lifelong athlete and sports enthusiast, Cliff was an accomplished runner, and while at Brown, was co-captain of the track team, excelling in the 440-yard dash. His love for running continued throughout his life, and one of his proudest achievements was to complete the Boston Marathon. Cliff was a longtime member of the Pagoda Pacers AC.

Cliff was a dedicated spectator, competitor and lover of basketball as well, competing locally in the Reading City League, and Antietam and West Reading Summer Leagues. He was also passionate about college basketball, never missing an NCAA Tournament, traveling to various places throughout the US for over 40 years to experience the action firsthand.

A devoted Cubs fan, Cliff relished their 2016 World Series victory, and then shifted his focus to the Oakland A’s, a team he felt was deeply unappreciated. He was also an accomplished Bridge player, learning the game as a young boy and even teaching Eileen its intricacies early in their relationship.

Cliff’s love for life extended to the arts as well and he enjoyed music of all types, especially classical Baroque. He enjoyed theatrical productions ranging from Shakespeare to modern drama. He traveled in this country and abroad with Eileen and their sons, and showed a special fondness for our National Parks. He was a member of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Berks County.

Cliff lived each day with great conviction. He was a loyal friend and extraordinary father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by anyone fortunate enough to know him personally.

In addition to Eileen, Cliff is survived by their sons: Clifford B. LePage, III, of West Chester and Alexander P. LePage, husband of Sloane (Farrell) of Berwyn, PA. Also surviving are the lights of his life, his grandchildren: Mia, Arielle, Margaux and Pierce LePage, as well as sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Cliff's life will be held Friday, June 15 at 2:30pm at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Friends and family may call Friday at the Funeral Home from 12:30pm until the start of the service
